Rarely mentioned, a deficiency in branched chain amino acids is however an important consideration in physical fatigue


In fact branched chain amino acids are particularly called on during sustained physical effort. In addition they help to reconstitute muscle reserves. Their role in the smooth running of the immune system should also be taken into account : when our body is fighting an infection it will draw on its reserves of branched chain amino acids to defend itself.
A deficiency in branched chain amino acids (BCAA) is an appropriate consideration in explaining physical fatigue.


Branched chain amino acids and muscle fatigue :

The BCAA are particularly called on during sustained physical effort. In addition they help to reconstitute muscle reserves. In this way a BCAA deficiency may be considered in relation to physical fatigue resulting from a regular sporting activity, a fast pace of life or difficulty in recovery.


Branched chain amino acids and the immune system :

The BCAA are also involved in relation to physical fatigue as a result of repeated infections, overwork or excessive weight loss to the detriment of muscle mass. The body will draw on its BCAA reserves to defend itself. 


Restoring the optimum level of branched chain amino acids

For occasional bouts of fatigue it may be helpful to take a dietary product that provides carbohydrates that are rich in branched chain amino acids in order to restore energy reserves.

For ongoing fatigue, a high protein product will strengthen muscle mass and our defence system.
